Kenny Quetant, the 20-year-old striker for Werder Bremen's U23 team, has received his first call-up to the Haiti national team. The forward, who joined Werder on a free transfer from Le Havre this summer, is named in the squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.
The matches are scheduled for September 25, September 28, October 2, and October 5. Quetant holds dual Haitian and French citizenship. He opted to represent Haiti, with the competition for places in the French national team considered too strong for a future call-up. Discussions with the Haitian football association are said to have been very positive.
More Werder talents called up
Alongside Quetant, Werder talents Mick Schmetgens, Salim Musah, and Paul Erevbenagie have been called up to the German U20 national team. They will face France on September 25, Italy on September 29, and England on October 3.
The call-up for Quetant comes as Werder Bremen sit 10th in the Bundesliga table with four points from three matches. The next fixture is a home game against fourth-placed FC Augsburg on September 19.
