The Regional Alliance has increased its stake in SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA to 19.71 percent. The capital increase bolsters the Bundesliga club's financial foundation during a challenging period of the season.

The group of regional entrepreneurs has been a minority shareholder in the club since 2024. With the new entry of businessman Moritz Gausepohl, the alliance was able to acquire additional shares. That the Regional Alliance is expanding its commitment once again is a strong signal for the connection between the economy and SV Werder Bremen, said Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald. The Werder president is also chairman of the supervisory board of the capital company.

Jens Christophers, spokesperson for the alliance, emphasised the long-term nature of the partnership. FC Köln, having beaten RB Leipzig 3-1 prior to that. The current standings table illustrates the tight midfield in which Werder are operating.

The new face in the alliance is Moritz Gausepohl. The entrepreneur explained his move by citing a special connection to the club. “Werder Bremen is more than just a football club for me. Werder is a special club with its own values,” said Gausepohl. His investment flows directly into the capital company.

The economic support is also intended to provide backing for the team amid personnel shortages. Currently, four players are sidelined through injury: Felix Agu, Jens Stage, Justin Njinmah and Moussa Ndiaye. The latest squad status can be followed on the injuries overview. The next task is the home match against Augsburg on 19 September.
