Werder Bremen are targeting their first away win of the season when they visit Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund on matchday five. The traditional clash at Signal Iduna Park kicks off at 20:30 on Friday and will be broadcast on Sky.

The Green-Whites approach the match with mixed feelings. Their last league outing was a dramatic 3-2 home win over Augsburg sealed by a late Mitchell Weiser goal. However, that was followed by a sobering 7-0 friendly defeat to Twente Enschede during the international break. Werder currently sit eighth in the table with seven points from four games, five points behind Dortmund.

Ole Werner's side have yet to pick up a point on the road this campaign. Their form across the last five competitive matches reads two wins, one draw and two defeats. Striker Niclas Füllkrug, who is currently the team's top scorer with three goals this season, returns to familiar surroundings in Dortmund. He spent the 2023/24 season playing for BVB.

Borussia Dortmund want to pick up where they left off and defend their position at the top of the table at the start of the fifth matchday. Edin Terzić's team have won all four of their league games this season, making them the only side with a perfect record. The task for Werder in the sold-out stadium is a formidable one. The match kicks off a key month for the Green-Whites.
