Chuki's strong performances for Werder Bremen have put him on the radar of the Spanish U21 national team. The 22-year-old midfielder has played 353 of a possible 360 Bundesliga minutes this season and has already provided two assists.

The Spaniard, who joined on a free transfer from Real Valladolid in the summer and is under contract until 2027, is a regular starter for Werder. His consistent displays have earned him a nomination for the DFL Rookie of the Month award, alongside Maurice Krattenmacher of Elversberg and Santiago Castaneda of SC Paderborn.

A call-up to the Spanish U21 squad is not yet imminent. Competition for places is fierce, and Chuki has only made four Bundesliga appearances for Werder. However, Spanish sports director Aitor Karanka is closely monitoring the player's progress. A call-up for the November international break is considered likely if Chuki maintains his current form. The attacking midfielder already has experience with Spain's youth teams, having previously featured for the U18s.

Werder Bremen currently sit eighth in the Bundesliga table with seven points from four matches. Their next challenge is a home game against 12th-placed SC Paderborn 07 on October 17. Chuki's contribution is valuable for the team, especially as Werder have gone without a win in their last three league games. The full schedule for the Green-Whites is available on the fixtures overview.

If the hoped-for call-up materialises, it would be the next logical step in the young Spaniard's rapid development at Werder Bremen. His contract ties him to the club until the summer of 2030.
