Two Offers Rejected: Werder Bremen Negotiates with French Club
SV Werder Bremen has rejected two million-pound offers for Karim Coulibaly. The 19-year-old, who performed consistently as a defender in the test against Auxerre (0:1), is still in talks with Racing Straßburg. According to media reports, the French club has already sent two offers, but both were rejected. A third offer is expected. The transfer of the Oldenburger national player could be realized in the summer, as Werder is financially dependent on a sale.
French Club Aims to Sign Coulibaly
Racing Straßburg, which was acquired by BlueCo in 2023, is intensely interested in the defender. The club, which is also involved with Chelsea, has in the past planned to develop players in Alsace for larger opportunities. In 2023, Abakar Sylla was signed for 20 million euros. The French club has also signed Fabio Baldé (up to seven million euros). Nochi Hamasor, who is also Coulibaly's agent, plays a central role here.
Werder Maintains Selling Approach
For Werder Bremen, a sale of Coulibaly would be the last piece to optimize the squad. Although the club emphasizes that it is already capable of action, the financial conditions are difficult. A sale would create more room. In the squad, there are further center-backs like Marco Friedl, Amos Pieper, and Julian Malatini. Niklas Stark, who is plagued by injuries, remains in the squad.
